Perspectives: History of Branding

From brandingstrategyinsider.com

A parallel article written by Brad VanAuken from The Blake Project, it’s definitely an interesting piece touching on a more elaborate chronology for the history of branding. To understand something, it’s important to know it’s roots and how it has evolved over the years.

To quote the article “underlying needs from which branding originated: to insure honesty, provide quality assurance, identify source or ownership, hold producers responsible, differentiate, as a form of identification and to create emotional bonding.” It’s a perfect example of the knowledge genuine practitioners have that supports the expertise they possess in serving clients.

Our Squeeze:

  1. Branding is a concept that has withstood the test of time with its importance growing over the years.

  2. Branding has been an integral part of every business that has succeeded in the long run.

  3. Ultimately, the intention of Branding was for the sole purpose of identifiability which has not changed through time; from differentiating people and objects in the past to making people, products and companies stand out in the minds of consumers.

  4. The relevance of Branding in today's business environment is at its peak with technology and globalisation enabling businesses the potential to make their mark in this world.
